nail polish stones:)

So here is something fun I have been wanting to try for a while! I saw a DIY thing on making polish rings, so I ordered some Cabouchons from a girl and I am awaiting for the ring bases. But in the meantime, I had seen someone say that they got some stones at the dollar store and I went on a search. I say search because I looked and looked and looked some more and didn't find any. I had pretty much given up, and, like always, when I wasn't looking for some, I found them!! I got a bag at the dollar store of about 30, but they were HUGE. a lot bigger then I wanted.

as opposed to the small ones I got for making rings, these are big. They would be perfect for necklaces and, perhaps, a huge ring. The ones I will be using for rings are these.
But, I wanted to try something so, I just put polish on the big stones for now. I have seen people make "polish stones" as they called them. So, originally, I just did polish and added a few designs, mainly lines to do a sort of zebra print. this is how they came out.

remember to , unlike when doing your nails, add the stripes first, then the color. Since you're doing it backwards, so it shows on the other side. If I had not seen someone do it that way first, I may not have been smart enough to realize it, so just thought I would share that:)so I just added black and silver stripes and then , when it was dry, added red on top of it.

this one is just black stripes and then orange for a tiger look:)Then, since I had so many that were just stripes, I added some dots.

this is my FAV! I just put a bunch of sparkles and then added a black coat. Again, I am sorry for my picture quality, it looks much better in person:)

Then, when I did all these, I thought to myself, why not do some designs. I must add that I am AWFUL at drawing. I am not just saying that. I have come to terms with it and learned to accept it. So, I cant draw the best designs but this is what I did try.

Music notes.....

an Anarchy sign, for my rebellious sign. It is also something I used to always doodle when I was a teen so....

Can you tell what it is before I tell you?? Well, its a cat:):) I have not yet added a back color to it and deciding if I should or not.....

a "Nirvana" smiley face:)

Ying and Yang

And a peace sign!

I cant wait, to get my ring bases and start making some rings!! I had 2 small ones that I got from a friend to try out before I got mine. This is what I did. Cant really see but its just lines and a back color. I got them from a friend, as I said for 6$ and came up to 10$ with shipping. I believe I may have paid a bit high for them but I really wanted them and wasn't able to find some. The ring bases I got from ebay. I got 50 for 5$. Just waiting for them to arrive..... I cant wait to show you guys what I make with them.
So, what do you guys think of these?? I also made one, that I didn't show because you cant see the color, with a glow in the dark polish. Its so cool. The stone glows in the dark:) I put a few in some plants and on my dresser. Makes cute decoration pieces. The possibilities are endless with where/what you can do with them once they are done. Dont forget, that once they are dry, I suggest leaving them overnight, to add a top coat to them, just as you do with your nails, so the polish doesn't chip from the stones. Well, hope you guys try these. Its actually quite fun and gets the creative juices going:) Dont forget to share pics with me if you do try them! would love to see what you guys come up with!!

till next time, keep on painting those nails and creating to your hearts desire!!

Sinful colors "pinky glitter"

I am IN LOVE with MATTE POLISH!!! I searched forever for a top coat and finally got one in a swap with the wonderful Jen from http://www.facebook.com/JensNailFiles  She has a wonderful FB page, make sure to have a look at it:) However, as great as the NYC matte top coat I got from Jen is, I dont want to use too much of it. I wanna save it!! LMAO!! No, but I love matte and polishes that are Matte are great. I bought this one and was totally surprised to find out that it was matte. It is Sinful colors "pinky glitter". Dont you love tho oh so simple, obvious name? Anyhow, I was pleasantly surprised, when I put it on, just to try it out \, that it dried as a matte. I thought that maybe I was seeing things, but no, its dries matte and is beautiful. I am very happy with it!

as you can see, I tried to add some art and did a heart. As you can also see, it was a total fail....

I am wearing it on top of  SAlly Hansen "Twisted pink" and Revlon "Electric pink" to have the total pink effect:)
cant really see but this is the best picture to try and show you the matte effect it has.

Do you guys have any polishes that turned out matte unexpectedly? Or any mattes that you would recommend? I just got Zoya "Veruschka" which I will do a post on soon, and love it. Do you guys agree with the whole matte faze? Do you also love it? Let me know what you think:):)

Lush Lacquer "birthday cake" and "lite bright"

I have been going to the mail box all day this week just hoping and waiting for these to arrive. Seeing as today was Friday I was really hoping that they would arrive and they did!! I am SO HAPPY! My first indies. Well apart from Floam, which O bought from someone. I also have Pretty and Polished "party on my yacht" which, now that I have them both really reminds me of "Birthday Cake" but I will do a post on it next. So without further ado, onto these beauties!!!
Here they are next to each other:)

Macro shot of Birthday cake. Its a white base packed with colorful sparkles. Purple, pink and blue dots and lines.I love it and understand why its called birthday cake. I just want to eat it when I look at it. Gives me an automatic sweet tooth!!Heres lite bright!!

I showed this to my brother and said "you remember how we loved playing with our "lite bright" when we were kids? well look at this, doesn't it just remind you of all the lights and colors of it?" Whereas he remembers the toy, it took some convincing to show him the connection. But then again, hes a guy who doesn't get the whole polish thing. He did agree thought, albeit after a few minutes, that it did resemble the little pegs. I don't even know if that what they had in mind when they made it, but that's what I think of when seeing it:)

I right away tried the "Lite bright" over the polish I had on, which happened to be Essie's "Mojito Madness" and it did look not too bad. Which leads me to believe that this polish will look good and go with just about any polish:) I did not take a pic though but will soon be doing a full mani with it. I did, however, put "birthday cake" on:) I put it on top of Color Club "Paris White". I found it a bit light alone, but it did look good. I just wanted the white to really show and I also didnt want to put on a lot of coats. Even though, I dont think I would of had to. It has a real great consistency and usually sparkle polishes have are very light with the first coat, especially the base color, but this one wasnt that bad. I did, however, still put the white on as a base. I had tried it over the polish I was wearing originally, which was a "Skittles" mani with the new Essies "Bikini so teeny" line and loved the way it looked over "Bikini so teeny" so I left my middle fingers like that:)

Color Club "Paris White" as a base.

SO.....NOT the best pictures, I know. I took the with the web cam. I do think they have somewhat better quality then when I take them with my phone. I am working on better pics!

This is pre cleanup. As you can see, I got them on my cuticles:( HATE THAT!

So, waht do you guys think of these? Which is your fav? I am into this whole indy kick now. What are your fav indies and which do you recommend? Hope you guys enjoyed.

Minnie mouse nails:)

SO, I saw a version of this somewhere on pinterest and I loved it:) I suck at drawing anything (seriously, my stick figures are bad) so usually when I see what some people are able to do with their nails, I am in shock. Luckily, this here is easy and cute. And, minnie mouse is so cute. This is my first try and some came out better then others but, practice makes better (not perfect, nothing is perfect) so I will try again. You will need some dotting tools. I have the actual dotting pens, which you can get for really cheap on ebay, however, if you don't have any, their are a few tricks. You can use a toothpick or bobby pin. Just dip one end into the polish, let it dry, and then dip again. You can keep doing so until you get the size you want. Heres a great video that I love. Shes a great girl and is full of awesome ideas. Worth subscribing to:)

On to the nails:) For this, I used Essie "Cascade cool" and OPI "black onyx" . I was going to use Essie's "off the shoulder" which is a pink but for some reason, I thought that "Cascade cool" was a better choice. I now have the Opi Minnie mouse collection, so I will use that next time but, anyhow.

I just love the way this looks!! its super easy as well. Just make a dot and then make 2 smaller dots for the ears and Voila!

Afterwards, I wanted more pink so I added my new OPI DS "Reserve" I added it to my pinky and middle finger and to the tips of the others. I know I don't take the best pics and I am working on making a light box. The picture does not do "Reserve" justice. its a beautiful color!

OPI DS Reserve

                        without flash.

This is my first OPI DS. After getting this one and seeing how beautiful it is, I am going to be getting more!! They have quite a few. Took a picture of them at my nail store.
The blue, silver and red are must haves for me! (you can also see the Minnie mouse display next to it:)
Do you own any DS from this line of any of the old ones?? What do you think of them?

Hope you guys enjoyed this post. Let me know what you think:)
